Grotta della vipera
The Grotta della Vipera (The Viper's Grotto) gets its
namefrom the two asps engraved above the entrance.
It is a sepulchral monument dedicated by the nobleman Cassio Filippo
to his wife Attilia Pomptilla.
The temple is situated on Viale Sant'Avendrace and on the walls there
are engravings of Latin and Greek verses the Roman nobleman had composed
in honour of his consort.
