The collection, named after its founder Stefano Cardu
(1849-1933), presents a great variety of artwork from different Asian
cultures and is particularly famous for its rich display of objects
of Siamese origins.
Besides exhibits of a religious theme, there are domestic instruments,
statues and ivory artwork of exceptional beauty.
Visitors can also admire chinaware dating back to the
Ming
period and the first Qing Emperors
(from XIV to XVII century), which demonstrate
in their form, quality and decoration highly skilled
techniques in their production.
Not to be missed is the rare collection of coins with exhibits from
the XI century up to 1800 A.D.
The arms section is also interesting with Siamese
spears and daggers including exorcism daggers used in traditional medicine.
