The
collection in this museum shows the history of the railways in Sardinia.
The railways started in 1860 with the foundation of the "Compagnia
Reale delle Ferrovie Sarde" (Italian-English) which, from 1863
to 1883, built 400km of standard gauge line under the direction of Benjamin
Piercy.
Between 1886 and 1897 the so-called "Complementary" narrow
gauge was added.
On exhibit are photographs, a telegraph from the Ferrovie Reali, machinery,
sections of track, instruments and documents, station and train furnishings
and models.
