The Luigi Piloni Collection

The
hall of palazzo Belgrano, houses the Sardinian Handicraft Collection
which was donated to the University by Luigi Piloni in 1981.
It contains pictures, prints, lithographs, etchings, maps, silverware
and carpets, which were all made between the XVI and XX centuries. They
all have in common some reference to Sardinian culture.
Room 1: effigies of famous Sardinians.
Room 2: paintings, including works by Michele
Cavaro (S. Chiara) and Antioco Mainas (Sepoltura di Cristo), both from
the 16th century.
Room 3: painting in tempera by Philippine
Della Marmora.
Room 4: works by the most important Sardinian
painters of the 20th century (A. Ballero, C. Contini, G. Biasi, B. Palazzi,
M. Sironi, A. Cao, F. Figari, F. Melis Marini, M. Delitala, C. Floris,
P. A. Manca, G. Ciusa Romagna, A. Sassu, M. Manca), also Sciuti and
Locatelli (not Sardinian).
Room 5: Traditional Sardinian silver including
rosaries from XVIII-XIX centuries, necklaces, pendants, amulets and
buttons.
Room 6: A precious collection of 14O maps
from the XVI to XIX centuries; 32 coberibancus; a "tapinu e mortu"
from Orgosolo-Mamioda; bertulas, mantas campidanesi;
Room 7: 136 Sardinian goods.
