The Archaeological Museum - Villanovafranca

Address:
Piazza Risorgimento, Villanovafranca (Ca)

The Archaeological Museum stands in the centre of the town of Villanovafranca, in the former "Monte Granatico" building. The latter is a structure which dates back to the mid nineteenth century and was recently restored to its former glory.

The Museum boasts about a thousand exhibits from all over the district and is divided into two sections:

- The first is dedicated the objects in ceramic, metal, glass and lythic, from all over the district
The Archaeological Museum
- The second section is dedicated to exhibits uncovered at the "Su Mulinu" Nuraghe and visitors can admire the monumental Nuragic altar, believed to be the only one in Sardinia.
The Archaeological Museum also has an exhibition route especially designed for blind visitors, offering them the chance to understand this fascinating civilisation.

Furthermore, the Museum boasts a plastic reproduction of the Nuragic Fortress of "Su Mulinu", which shows the excavation work carried out since 2001.
The plastic model perfectly reproduces the overlapping structures belonging to the various civilisations (Nuragic-Punic-Roman-Byzantine) which used the Nuraghe over the centuries.
