The Mountains of Serpeddì
This vast region in the south east of Sardinia presents an original
synthesis of sea and mountains, with its beautiful coastline and inland
rural areas of great natural interest. In fact, the route which unwinds
before visitors from the forests of Burcei and Sinnai,
to the beaches of Quartu,
Maracalagonis and Villasimius
offers them a continual but varied panorama of natural beauty.

Proceeding from west to east, Serdiana
lies, together with Dolianova,
in the heart of the Parteolla plain. The surrounding countryside is
characterised by vineyards, olive groves and pasture land.
The Romans called the Parteolla area "Partes Olea", a name
which bears witness to the fact that, even in ancient times, the land
was ideal for the cultivation of olive trees.
The population of the Parteolla area has a deep-rooted agricultural
tradition, which has been passed down from one generation to the next,
and today the region is still known for its production of olive oil,
cheese and fine wine.
Respect for ancient systems in the cultivation of olive trees, combined
with modern technology allow local farmers to produce a greater quantity
of olives, without, however, sacrificing the quality.
Visitors to the area can sample the finest olive oil and table olives,
which conserve the same full, genuine flavour which dates back to Roman
times.
The Parteolla plains are also perfect pasture for thousands of sheep
and goats, whose rich milk is used in the production of numerous types
of cheese and other milk derivatives.
The area also boasts a large dairy, producing a wide range of cheeses,
among which the Sardinian speciality "pecorino" (sheep) cheese,
both fresh and mature, and various types of ricotta.

The countryside is covered with vineyards which produce grapes for local
wine producers, as well as those of Dolianova. Wine from this area is
sold throughout Italy, but is also appreciated on the world markets.
The Sinnai district lies within the mountainous region of Serpeddì
and is an area of great beauty, which stretches from the Monte
dei Sette Fratelli to the splendid beach of Solanas.
Visitors to the region can admire the numerous archaeological sites,
such as Domus de Janas at Santu Basileddu and the Nuragic complex of
Terrici, nestling between the beaches of Torre
delle Stelle and Solanas.
Sinnai is essentially an agricultural and pastoral town, but in recent
years it has begun to take advantage of the opportunities offered by
the expanding tourist sector. In fact, artisan products from the area
are in increasing demand, in particular the fine quality, characteristic
cane baskets.
