Chia Beach

Further along the SS 195, about 49 km from Cagliari, thChia Beachere is a turn-off on the left which leads to the beautiful Tower of Chia and its wonderful beach. From the high ground on which the tower stands there is a splendid view of the beach of Porto Chia and the island of Cardulinu, joined to the terra firma by a sandy strip of land.

Stretching out towards the west there is a spectacular expanse of beaches with their high sand dunes, covered in juniper trees and Mediterranean shrub, whilst in front of the S'Acqua Durci beach there is the unmistakable rock formation of Su Giudeu.

 "S'Acqua Durci" Beach
In the local Sardinian dialect this rock is known as "pruppu giudeu", however, the origins of this name remain a mystery. The name may derive from the dark colour of the rock or because of the many octopus which live there.

Adventurous visitors can reach the island on foot by wading through the shallow water. The island is 18m. high and from this view point visitors can fully appreciate the surrounding emerald-green, crystalline sea as it gently laps the golden, sandy shore.
The area is equipped with all modern services and facilities for bathers and water-sports enthusiasts.
