The Nuragic Tomb of "Sa Domu e' S'Orcu" - Siddi

The so-called "Giants' Tomb" of "Sa Domu e' S'Orcu" is situated on the Giara di Siddi (a small basalt plateau protected by sixteen Nuraghi) and represents unquestionably one of the most impressive monuments of the Marmilla area. The Nuragic Tomb of "Sa Domu e' S'Orcu"

It is a long structure consisting of a corridor and a large frontal exedra, which is reminiscent of a bull's head and horns.
This symbolic representation commemorates the male divinity, worshiped by the Nuragic peoples, as well as by many other peoples of the Mediterranean.

The large stone slabs which cover the monument are particularly striking and weigh more than twelve tons.

The archaeological site is just a short drive from Villanovaforru (5 km.), but visitors can also reach it on the chair lift (the only one in Sardinia), which offers them a breathtaking panorama of the Giara di Siddi.
