The Ingurtosu Mine

This mine, which once employed over one thousand people, has been closed
since 1964. The name 'Ingurtosu' derives from the local word for the
griffon vulture (Su Gurturgiu), which became extinct a few years ago.
The Management building, in neo-classical style, and the mine's Washery
are particularly interesting.
The latter was, at the time, considered an avant-garde plant which represented
the latest
technological innovation in the mining sector.
The
Ingurtosu mine is situated in an area of wild, natural beauty.
