The Montevecchio Mine (Guspini)

The mining complex of Montevecchio, rich in lead and zinc, was once
one of the largest and most productive in Europe.
In fact, in 1865, 1100 miners worked there.
The area around Montevecchio offers visitors a range of possibilities,
from trips to see the industrial archaeology of the zone to trekking,
as well as the chance to admire beautiful woods, deer, mountains and
sea.
The Montevecchio mine is one of the eight sites
which
make up the Geo-mineral Park of Sardinia,
a park which was defined by UNESCO as "a cultural
patrimony belonging to the entire human race".
