The S. Giovanni Mine (Iglesias)


The S.Giovanni mine is one of the oldest mines on the island, known during the Pisan era as Monte Barlao. It was discovered in 1870 and conceded as a mining concession seven years later.
In the first years of activity the richest material was processed in loco, whilst the poorer material was taken to Carloforte and then shipped to England.
