Pattada

Population: 3,692
Altitude: 625 m. above sea level

This large agricultural and pastoral town is situated on the foothills of Monte Lerno, a popular summer holiday resort. The surrounding countryside abounds in fascinating Nuraghi: "Su Melo", "Pira", "Sa Patada", "Turre Lerno", "Su Pavarile", "Sant'Elias", "Sa Cadrea", "Littu Pedrosu" and "Sa Puzzinina".
The remains of a Medieval castle perch on the nearby hill of Olocene. The parish church boasts an ancient wooden choir with marvellous etchings. Pattada is famous both nationally and internationally for its magnificent "Sa Pattadese" knife, named after the town. This artisan knife has become a collector's item and has a hardened steel blade and a horn handle.
