Villanova Monteleone

Population: 3000

The Oratory of Santa Croce The town of Villanova Monteleone is situated between Alghero and Bosa, on the north-west coast of the island. The surrounding countryside offers numerous medieval settlements dating back to the Aragonese period. Visitors should not miss the fascinating historical town centre, the Aragonese Tower of Badde Jana and the enchanting inlet of Poglina.

One of Villanova's most picturesque beaches lies in a small inlet known as "Torre Abbandonata", noted for the stalactites and stalagmites which have formed from the bluish chert present there. The high cliffs of the coast rise up for 500 metres and, during the rainy seasons, are dotted with streams which flow down the steep cliff-side and form a beautiful waterfall at "S'Istrampu de su Segnore".
The countryside around Villanova boasts numerous archaeological sites of great interest.
