Argentiera
The
coastal town of Argentiera stands in front of the splendid bay of Argentiera,
formed by two beaches: the larger of the two lies to the north, while
the smaller one, known as Cala Onanu, lies to the south. This beach
is dominated by the old, wooden washery building, behind which stands
the ancient mining complex. The mines were used for the extraction of
lead and argentiferous zinc from the XIX century until 1962 and represent
a splendid example of industrial archaeology. The sand is slightly grey
and mixed with shingle, while the sea is deep and a marvellous dark
blue colour.
