Trekking in Sardinia - Gallura
The region of Gallura is ideal for trekking enthusiasts and offers
numerous fascinating walks. From Capo Testa to Monte Tinnari, from "Isola
Rossa" to the islands of Spargi, Caprera and Monte Pulchiana.
Among
the various walks, we recommend:
- Caprera.
This island is above all famous because it was the home of the Italian
General, Giuseppe Garibaldi. However, the island of Caprera also offers
one of the most beautiful, natural landscapes in the Mediterranean.
In particular, visitors should not miss the two paths which lead to
the most beautiful bays on the island: Cala
Coticchio and Cala Napoletana.
- Monte Limbara.
This natural environment offers marvellous granite masses, woods and
streams, all immersed in the lush greenery of the mountains slopes.
Visitors can enjoy a journey along the dirt roads, through the dense
woodland, or they can follow the old paths to an oasis where they
can catch sight of moufflon and fallow deer in amongst the typical
Mediterranean vegetation with its unmistakable fragrance.
- The Promontory of Capo Figari.
This is an expanse of limestone rock in the middle of the characteristic
granite of the Gallura region. Numerous paths take visitors on a journey
along the whole promontory, where they are offered beautiful sea views
and the chance to see moufflon, as well as numerous species of birds,
such as buzzards, peregrine falcon and osprey.
