Olbia and the surroundings
- Olbia
- Golfo Aranci
The town's original name was actually "Golfo dei Granchi"
(crabs), which was erroneously transformed from 'granchi' into 'aranci'
(oranges). The misinterpretation is evident since, as visitors will
notice, there is a total absence of orange trees throughout the whole
area. Golfo Aranci is very popular in the summer months and offers
visitors spectacular panoramas, including the enchanting vision of
the island of Figarolo, a marvellous natural oasis. Visitors should
not miss the Nuragic Sacred Well of Milis, and, towards Olbia, the
Well-Temple of Sa Testa.
- Porto Rotondo
This exclusive tourist resort
nestles in an extraordinary natural environment. Its exceptional beauty
has attracted the attention of numerous investors over the years,
who have transformed Porto Rotondo into one of the most desirable
and chic destinations in the world. Visitors can take a stroll round
the picturesque port where they can admire the luxury yachts which
are usually anchored there. The whole area is renowned for its unique,
crystalline sea, however, Porto Rotondo's most famous beach is unquestionably
the beach of Ira, where the transparent, Mediterranean water is truly
emerald. Not far from the town lie the beaches of Punta Asfodelo,
whilst the beaches of Sassi and 'la spiaggia delle Alghe' lie towards
Punta Volpe. Golfo di Marinella lies about 4 km. from Porto Rotondo,
with the beautiful Golfo di Marinella beach, from where visitors are
rewarded with a magnificent view of the islands of Soffi and Mortorio.
