Food and Drink
- Tempio Pausania
The restaurants and 'agriturismi' (farmhouses) in Tempio Pausania
offer an exceptional variety of delicious specialities from the Gallura
region, from pasta served with wild boar sauce, to roast suckling
pig, numerous local cheeses and irresistible desserts. All the dishes
are accompanied by the characteristic Vermentino wine, which is produced
in the Wine Cellars of Tempio.
- Berchidda
The town boasts an impressive tradition in the gastronomic field,
from the typical Gallura soup, to ravioli, game dishes, as well as
spit roast lamb and pork, not to mention the delicious local pecorino
(sheep) cheese and irresistible desserts. However, no meal is complete
without the legendary Vermentino wine, which originated from this
town and is still produced here today. Visitors must not miss a trip
to the local Wine Cellar and the Wine Museum.
- Monti
This town is famous for its vine production and stands on a range
of hills, covered in lush vineyards, the grapes from which are used
to produce fine red and white wines. The most famous wine is unquestionably
'Vermentino', which is produced in the local wine cellar. Wine lovers
should not miss the chance to visit this wine cellar since it is one
of the oldest and most interesting in Sardinia. Another delightful
event is the "la sagra del Vermentino", a wine festival
which takes place in Monti, at the beginning of August, in honour
of the town's finest wine.
