Narbolia Population: 1,700
Narbolia is situated 18 km. from Oristano, overlooking the sea, and is known
for its production of citrus fruit, grapes and olives. Nearby there is a beautiful
pinewood, which stretches as far as the Is Arenas beach. It is a genuine
oasis of great natural interest with pine trees, eucalyptus and rich Mediterranean
shrub, made up predominantly of myrtle and lentisk bushes. It is the perfect habitat
for jays, weasels and foxes. On the far northern point of the beach visitors can
admire the S'Archittu rock, which has been shaped by the sea and forms a natural
archway. The district of Narbolia abounds in Nuraghi, such as Zoddios,
Araganzola, Cresia, Terra Craccus and Tunis. The church of S.Caterina, dating
from the early Christian period, and the parish church of S.Reparata, originally
Romanesque with Gothic-Aragonese additions, are situated in the centre of the
town. | |
