    Sa Carrela 'e nanti
For the last three days of the carnival period, every evening about fifty horsemen, wearing masks or traditional, local costumes, take part in a competition of breath-taking acrobatics and races, which put their great horsemanship to the test.
The races are run in the heart of the historic centre of Santulussurgiu, following the twists and turns of the steep, narrow streets.

    L'Ardia
The 'Ardia' may not be the most important festival in Sardinia, but it is certainly one of the favourites for Sardinians and foreign visitors alike. Between 5th and 7th July every year hundreds of the most skilled and courageous horsemen from the area take part in this spectacular event. It is a gripping horserace, which is held in honour of S.Costantino (in Sardinian dialect 'Antine').
The Ardia, in fact, commemorates the battle won by
Constantine in 312 at Ponte Milvio (Rome) against
    the troops of Massenzio

La Corsa degli ScalziThis event coincides with the celebrations held in honour of S.Salvatore and begins at dawn on the first Saturday in September. 400-500 young people, wearing white tunics, fulfil a vow by running barefoot from Cabras to the Sanctuary in the village of S.Salvatore, carrying with them an effigy of the Saint. The following Sunday the procession is repeated, but this time from the Sanctuary to Cabras. According to the legend, the run re-enacts the feat of a group of young people who saved the Saint from pillaging invaders, by taking it away from the village to safety.
