Sedilo Population:
2,665 The town of Sedilo is situated in the Tirso valley, on a plain which
overlooks Lake Omodeo. The whole area is of great natural interest, with fascinating
places to visit such as the woods of "Littu", "Sos Pizzos"
and "Lochele". The area also abounds in testimony to the pre-Nuragic
and Nuragic civilisations, as well as to the Punic era. Among the many Nuraghi
to visit, we recommend "Talasai", the "Lighei", "l'Irgiddo"
and "l'Irghidda". In the Illoi countryside there are also a number
of "Giants' Tombs" and "Domus de Janas". Among the
many things to see, visitors should not miss the beautiful church of S.Costantino.
One of the island's most important festivals is held every year between 5th and
8th July in honour of this Saint: S'Ardia. Other places
of interest are the parish church of S.Giovanni Battista, in late Gothic style,
and the small church of S.Basilio.
