The Mistras Lagoon - S.Giovanni di Sinis


The lagoon stretches over a coastal area of about 450 hectares and provides the perfect nesting environment for numerous species of birds: herring gulls, cormorants, wild ducks, stilt birds, pink flamingos, egrets and marsh-harriers. The lagoon represents an important resource for the local economy because of the variety of fish it supports. Among the most common fish: gilthead bream, mullet, sea bass, sargo, eels, etc..
The lagoon is safeguarded by the RAMSAR convention.
