The Funtana Cuberta well - Ballao
The
Funtana Cuberta well, dating back to the Nuragic Age, about 2000 B.C,
lies just a few kilometres from the town of Ballao.
The well consists of a partially subterranean cell, where spring water
accumulated, and is covered by a Tholos cupola, accessible from 12 external
steps and a small atrium.
The cupola is encircled by a tambour wall, whilst the atrium, flanked
by two aisles about 1 m. wide, still preserves most of the original
floor, made up of large limestone slabs.
