Villasimius
Villasimius
has become the most popular
tourist resort on the south east coast of the island and is within easy
reach of Cagliari and the whole Sarrabus - Gerrei district.
Visitors are particularly attracted by the fine, white sandy beach,
the crystalline sea and the unspoilt nature of the area.
The Golfo of Capo Carbonara boasts the magnificent beaches
of Porto Sa Ruxi, Cala Piscareddus, Campus, Campulongu
and Spiaggia del Riso.
Along the east coast from Villasimius there are
the other splendid beaches, such as Porto Giunco,
Notteri
and the beach of Simius,
Is Traias and Is Molentis.
The two islands, Isola dei Cavoli and Isola
di Serpentara, are also well worth a visit.
Villasimius is noted for its limpid water and seabed, rich in marine
life and wrecks, and is a haven for those who enjoy snorkelling
and diving.
The area Villasimius looks out upon
(about 8850 hectares) has been a protected
marine environment since 1999.
It is known as Capo Carbonara and there are
guided tours of this fascinating oasis
for the benefit of visitors and nature lovers.
