The islands of the Island
- Villamassargia
- Carbonia
The Archaeological Zone of Monte Sirai.
- Tratalias
The Church of Santa Maria, built in 1213, is still perfectly preserved
today. This church, already cathedral of the Sulcis Diocese, is a
splendid example of Romanesque - Pisan architecture, which became
popular in Sardinia in the XII and XIII century A.D.
- Sant'Antioco
Besides the splendid beaches, we recommend a visit to the Roman Town
of Sulci.
The Archeologico Antiquarium Museum.
- Calasetta
This picturesque seaside town boasts an extraordinary Spanish Tower
from the XVII century, from where visitors are rewarded with a magnificent
panorama of the area. The beach below the tower, known as "Sotto
la Torre", is of exceptional beauty. From Calasetta visitors
can take the ferry to the Island of S.Pietro.
- The Island of
San Pietro
The island is particularly interesting for nature lovers because it
is home to many rare species, as well as some in danger of extinction,
such as the Queen's Falcon and the Marine Astragalus.
Visitors should not miss the chance to take a boat trip round the
island. It is the perfect way to fully admire the high cliffs, of
volcanic origin, the fascinating grottoes and the many unspoilt
bays.
