Sea and nature
- Villamassargia
- Domusnovas
The S.Giovanni
grottoes are particularly worth a visit because it is the only
example in Italy of caves which can be visited by car. The grotto
is 850 m long with a central gallery, from which numerous lateral
galleries branch off.
- Iglesias
Visitors should not miss the State owned forest of Manganai, rich
in fascinating species of flora and fauna. Another 'must' is the Nebida
- Masua coastline, with the two mining complexes, all of which make
up one of the most beautiful and striking panoramas in Sardinia. The
extraordinary Porto Flavia mine is situated half way up the rock face
and looks out on the sea and the splendid rock mass known as "Pan
di Zucchero".
- Gonnesa
- Carbonia
Visitors should not miss the village of Seruci and the Monte Sirai
Mine.
- Portoscuso
The 'Tonnara Su Pranu', or tuna fish processing plant, is particularly
interesting.
From Portoscuso visitors can take the ferry to the Island of S.Pietro.
- Carloforte
We recommend a visit to the historic centre, the Tonnara Villamarina
(tuna fish processing plant) on the island of Piana and the beautiful
beaches, in particular the beaches of Bobba, le
Colonne, la
Caletta and Cala Fico.
