Nature and mines
- Villamassargia
- Iglesias
Visitors should not miss the State owned forest of Manganai, rich
in fascinating species of flora and fauna. Another 'must' is the Nebida
- Masua coastline, with the two mining complexes, all of which make
up one of the most beautiful and striking panoramas in Sardinia. The
extraordinary Porto Flavia mine is situated half way up the rock face
and looks out on the sea and the splendid rock mass known as
"Pan di Zucchero".
- Fluminimaggiore
The Temple of Antas and
the Su Mannau Grotto
are of particular interest.
- Arbus
Visitors should not miss the spectacular Costa Verde, with the splendid
beaches of Piscinas
and the Ingurtosu
mines.
- Guspini
An authentic jewel is the hamlet of Montevecchio. The beautiful town
is situated in the centre of a mining complex, which was once one
of the most productive in Europe.
Visitors can admire the magnificent Management Building, now used
as a museum, and the mines, which are now in disuse.

Villacidro
Villacidro is a paradise for trekking enthusiasts. We recommend a
trip to the Sa Spendula waterfall,
which received international recognition after G. D'Annunzio visited
the area in 1882 and dedicated a poem to this natural beauty, as well
as the waterfall of Muru Mannu, 70
m high and the tallest in Sardinia.
